Antique Textile Tiny Cross-Stitch Pillow Pincushion With Beaded Fringe
  • I’ve recently acquired a number of pieces from a long-time a private collection of make do and needlepoint pincushions. It is a fabulous collection that I’m pleased to offer these wonderful pieces. Ms. Hardy enjoyed these pieces for 30 years and you can see that she has an eye for the best!

A sweet tiny needlework pillow in a bit of a checkerboard pattern. This pincushion is brightly colored with red, purple, gold, orange, green and grey, with very dark grey or black used for the hatch pattern. The pillow is edged with white beaded fringe. The needlework is done on loosely woven canvas and the back of this tiny pillow is cream colored silk. There is a stain on the silk backing from an adhesive label and two of the silk corners are just barely starting to shred from age. All else is in great condition. The pillow is only 3” square. Best date estimate is late 19th to early 20th century.
