18th century 10 1/2" flagon by master pewterer P. Nootens of Brussels. Beautiful cast shell thumbpiece and ornate detailing on applied handle. Three Nootens touchmarks on bottom, a winged angel with sword & initials "P" & "N"; a crowned rose bearing the same initials; and banner saying "P Nootens / Bruxelles". The body is in good condition with small dings and scratches. However, the top has a through-and-through crack above the hinge and it doesn't sit flush to the body. Price is excellent even with the apologies. Circa 1770-1790.
