Early English hollow cut silhouette of gentleman in a turned wood frame. The style of cutting the ruffled shirt front makes me think the silhouette may have been cut by Mrs. Sarah Harrington though the bust line is different than any of her work that I have seen. It may be by a contemporary of Mrs. Harrington. There is a tea in the paper starting at the back of the bustline going to the outside edge of the paper (at approximately 3:30) and some light foxing. But that is still very good condition for a paper silhouette from the last quarter of the 18th century. Framed size is 4 1/2" x 5 1/4". (#4114) $400 |
