Back to Silhouettes

It is rare these days to find a silhouette by William King! Here is a nice one....an American hollow cut silhouette by one of this nation's early recorded artists. Impressed with the signature "KING". King was a wonderful silhouettist, but he was such a rascal that you should own a King just so you can tell the story! We know he worked in Salem and Boston Mass. and Hanover, NH. After reading about his escapades, I think he likely moved to stay away from the law and the family he deserted rather than working as an itinerant. You can read a bit more about King on the Silhouettist Biographies page, and you'll get a nice biography along with the silhouette. This lovely lady is circa 1804-1806 and resides in a period softwood frame measuring 3 3/4" x 6 5/8".

(#3811)      $750

Please see the Silhouettist Biographies page for more information about King.
