Enchanting 19th century cut & paste silhouette of a young boy training his dog to "sit". This young master wears a tunic with a wide collar and belted waist. His trousers stop at his ankles. I don't know whether you can see it in these photos, but his clothing has light grease pencil detailing at the cuffs of his long sleeves, the inset of his sleeves, the base of his collar, and his belt. His dog sits obediently waiting for the treat that the young master holds out for him. The sepia watercolor background depicts wooden floor planks. The silhouette resides in the probably original period flat-profile frame of rosewood veneer with a gilt liner. Framed size is 7" x 8 1/2". Circa 1835 (#4922) $995 |
