Lovely fully painted (not cut) 19th century silhouette of a young boy holding a whip.  The full-length silhouette is painted in dark grey with gilt embellishments, gum arabic highlights and a white frilled collar.  This young master wears a long tunic with a high waist and small turned-down collar.  The tunic is similar to a man's frock coat.  His trousers are full and stop at the ankle so that you can see his small tied shoes.  His curly hair is painted in gold.  He resides in the original flat-profile rosewood frame with gilt liner and brass hanging loop.  Framed size is 5 3/4" x 7 3/4".  Circa 1835.

(#4921)     $995
