Back to Silhouettes

<Previous Item       Next Item>

This is a wonderful and very scarce American hollow cut silhouette by T.P. Jones.  Someone has penciled in "E Shun" or "E Thin" or something similar which is likely the name of the sitter.  It is a shame that the identification is not more legible.  However, the silhouette is marvelous and well represents the outstanding work done by Jones.  Details we expect from the work of Jones (which rarely shows up) includes the forelock of hair falling to her forehead, the slight upturn of her nose and the pout of her bottom lip.  The silhouette is wonderfully accented by the folky hand-carved wood frame in early alligator-crazed blue paint.  Framed size is 4 1/4" x 5 5/8".  The embossed signature reads "T.P. JONES. FECIT."  Circa 1810.

(#3896)       $795
