Circa 1800-1810 miniature watercolor on paper of a woman wearing a miniature portrait or silhouette from a ribbon around her neck.  The lady wears what was referred to as the "antique Roman" hairstyle that became popular circa 1803.  There is a small area at 12:00 above the lady's head that appears to be a bit of possible inpainting and a slight waterstain to the far right edge of the background at 4:00.  These are small apologies for this lovely almost monochromatic portrait showing how early 19th century women carried their loved ones near to their hearts with miniature portraits and silhouettes.  In original papier mâché frame measuring 4 3/4" x 5 1/2".
