Meet the Chard Brothers--William and Thomas. William is identified
in a later ink inscription on the verso as
William Chard (Son of Edward Chard) Born May 10, 1829 Died Dec. 6 1897 Buried Highgate The boys look very much the same age and may be fraternal twins. Thomas appears to be the mischievous brother while William appears to be the more intellectual one. You can see from the photo that William's frame has a few dings along the right edge....but the frames are beautiful bright gilt and the watercolor portraits are outstanding. I have not been able to find further genealogy information on these two boys....but aren't they fantastic? Original 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" gilt frames. (#3881) $2250 |
