Wonderful naïve 19th century portrait miniature pretty woman who wore all of her jewelry for her portrait sitting!  This lady wears a fashionable blue dress with a pleated, cross-over bodice, wide imbecile sleeves and a belt with gold buckle.  Her rich reserve of jewelry includes long dangling gold earrings, a brooch and a long gold chain from which she wears a decorative magnifying glass tucked into her belt.  Of course, her gold buckle adds to the wonderful set of jewelry.  Her hair is styled into a high Apollo knot with tight curls framing her face.  The reverse bears an inscription "Oct. 10th 1833".  The grey stippled background is shaded to depict light coming in from her proper left.  The portrait is watercolor on ivory.  The original papier mâché frame measures 4 1/2" x 5 1/4".  Circa 1833.
