Exquisitely rendered 18th century portrait miniature of a gentleman, likely wearing a wig.  This beautiful watercolor on ivory is set into a rose gold bracelet mount.  I thought about having it strung for wearing, but the back bears an early paper label identifying the gentleman as "Monsiour du Tantenay y Pierre (Peter)".  That is, of course, my best guess at the early script.  Since I didn't want to separate the two, I've left it for beautiful display as it came to me.  Despite the French language of the label, I believe this portrait is likely English or American.  A really lovely piece!
