Naïve watercolor portrait of a sweet young girl with big brown eyes and wearing a pink dress with bright blue sash and bows on her shoulders.  She also wears a coral bead necklace for good luck and holds a bountiful basket of flowers.  Behind her is a small pond with what appear to be ducks.  The far background reveals a church steeple.  The back is signed in pencil--possibly H. De Causey [not sure about the last name], Artist 1834, Winchester. There is some light foxing to the background which shows up much darker in the photo than in real life.  In a papier mâché frame that once sported a table easel back (the easel has broken off).  It hangs by an early brass hanging hook.  Framed size is 6 1/2" x 8".  Size of the paper is 4" x 5 3/4".

(#4557)    $650
