Back to Pewter

<Previous Item      Next Item>

Pewter porringer with an Old English handle similar to one used by Frederick Basset, active 1761-1800, NYC and Hartford.  See Montgomery, Charles F., A History of American Pewter.  E.P. Dutton New York, 1978 ed. 146-47. The bellied bowl with a boss or slight dome in the centor of a flat bottom has a 3 1/4" diameter.  The porringer is 4 7/8" from bowl to tip of handle and stands 1 1/8" tall.  The handle includes one heart.  There is a possible repair to end of handle, or may be a casting flaw.  It appears that the handle has been reattached to the bowl.

(#4377)     $250
