Back to Pewter

n Pewter of the Western World, 1600-1850, Hornsby says that most funnels are 18th century, few are marked and examples from different regions are similar.  This is the smaller of two funnels I'm currently offering.  This 5 1/4" funnel is a beautiful example of utilitarian pewter.  It has turned rings on the bowl and where the cup meets the stem.  It even has a strainer attached inside of the cup.  It's mellow darker grey patina is stunning.  It might be 18th century as Hornsby suggests, but I think this is the younger of the two funnels and might be early 19th century.  The stem has a couple of dents as you can see in the photos.  The bowl diameter measures 4".
