Back to Pewter

Ameircan pewter coffee pot bearing the mark "R.GLEASON" (Dorchester, Massachusetts, active 1822-1871).  Rosewell Gleason's work is considered some of the best, with great originality. See Laughlin, Ledlie Irwin, Pewter in American Its Makers & Their Marks, Volume Two.  American Legacy Press, 1981 Ed. at 102; Jacobs, Carl, Guide to American Pewter, The McBride Co., Inc., New York, 1957.  97.  This spectacular coffee pot stands 11" tall.  I have found one small well-done repaired hole to side of body (hard to find without careful study).  The handle has the original black paint with appropriate wear.  There is slight oxidation on underside of belly on one side. A super nice pot.
