Rare, very large Amsterdam beaker (where they have been loving to drink a lot of good beer for centuries).  This wonderful beaker measures a full 5 1/2" tall (compared to the usual 3" tall beaker).  It's wide mouth is about 4" in diameter (impossible to get an accurate measure because of the waviness) and the applied foot measures 3 1/4" in diameter.  Simply adorned with two incised lines one-third from the top of the body, this beaker was made for drinking, and obviously served that purpose.  Beakers are quite sought-after and serve all kinds of purposes.  My favorite purpose for small beakers is making small flower arrangements for each dinner guest.  This large beaker will hold a lovely nosegay arrangement of flowers for the center of your dinner table.  There is a slight wobble to the base, but not so much that I would hesitate to use for flowers.....in fact, the longer it takes to sell, the more use I will get from it as a vase!  Dark grey patina.  Dutch, probably 18th century.  No touchmarks.  Check out the group photograph at the end of the listing for a size comparison with a regular sized beaker.

(#4614)     $550
