Set of 6 identical pewter spoons with the touchmar "SUUM CUIQUE" and an anchor. Suum Cuique is a Latin phrase for "to each his own" or "to each what he deserves". The phrase was much used in Germany during the mid to end of the 19th century and is still used today. I have not been able to identify the pewterer. These 8" spoons are quite light weight which, along with the Latin phrase, leads me to believe that they are late 19th to early 20th century. They are in very good condition, very inexpensive, and will display wonderfully! (#5006) $45 / set of 6 |
