Back to Paint Decoration

<Previous Item      Next Item>

Here are two nice pieces for two really reasonable prices!  A circa 1835 painted tinware (often mistakenly called toleware) wick trimmer tray with strong original red paint and gilt stenciled decoaration and a really wonderful, 18th century forged iron pair of wick trimmer.  These pieces are shown together because they look terrific together....but they are sold separately.

The tinware tray is 10 1/4" long x 4 1/2" at the widest.  It has a rolled edge and, while the paint has wear that one would expect from an 19th century utilitarian piece of tinware, it is in really good strong condition.

(#3621)     $85

The pair of scissor-type wick trimmers (sometimes called candle snuffers) are hand-forged. with beautiful detail work such as the beading around the wick box and the shell on the scissor-tip.  The handles are delicately scrolled with small penny feet.  Circa 1750

(#3643)     $185

Both together are a real bargain at $270!
