Back to Paint Decoration

<Previous Item      Next Item>

American paint decorated Windsor stool with an oval top and turned legs ending in button feet. The paint decoration is comprised of black over red fanciful graining and yellow freehand painted decoration accenting the top edge and legs. The top has been scrubbed of paint through years of use. This stool was never upholstered. The underside of the seat has the scratched inscription "1725" and "HEWITT" (also later paper tag saying same). This appears to be a later inscription...possibly collector's name and collection number. Circa 1840. 10" x 7" x 7 1/2" tall.

#3537     $575
