Back to Paint Decoration

<Previous Item

Lovely paint decorated turtle-backed fireplace bellows with the original surface of beautiful bronze-powder stenciled compote of flowers, bright red edging and yellow pin-stripe, all on a windsor green background. The leather is in remarkable condition...as I've tried to show you with the bottom photos...a few missing pieces where it stretches over the edge.  But you can still feel a puff of air when you squeeze the bellows.  Original brass tacks hold the leather in place and traces of yellow paint remain on the metal nozzle.  17 1/2" long.  The condition of the original painted surface of these bellows is the best I've seen in a while.  This is new to the market as I bought it directly from a long-time collection.

See Fireplace Bellows, by Anne Marie Cloutier, Country Living, October 2006 (http://www.countryliving.com/antiques/what-to-collect/Bellows-1006) for more information.  Page 2 of the electronic article shows a very similar set of bellows.
