19th century paper doll made from a fashion plate, cut out and pasted upon a hand-drawn body.  The sash and ribbons on the front of her dress are applied from an iridescent, aubergine-colored paper.  Perhaps the young girl who made this doll was planning her wedding dress. This great mixed-media collage is archivally mounted with hand-marbled paper made by the exact methods used since the 16th century.  The period gilt stenciled frame is circa 1870, as is the paper doll.  Perfect for a little girl's bedroom.  Please forgive the glare in the left side of the picture.  I'll try to get a better photograph taken within the next few days.  Framed size 11 5/8" x 13 3/4".  The paper doll is about 8" tall to the bottom of her applied sash.  Circa 1870.
