This is a wonderful pheasant painted in vivid watercolor perched in a graphite-drawn tree.  The artist signed "C.S.H." or "G.S.H." and dated the painting "1846" at the bottom of the tree limb.  A beautiful amateur painting framed in a period rosewood veneer frame that measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2".
